The GREEN BAY project reaches a decisive milestone for the future of passenger port terminals. The European CWA (CEN Workshop Agreement) and the AFNOR SPEC 2407 guidelines have been officially published. The green transition of ports is no longer just an intention: it now has a clear, harmonised framework for action, paving the way for the environmental certification of terminals.
Regulatory constraints and urban pressure: a common framework to address them
Passenger terminals face increasingly stringent environmental regulatory constraints. Often located in city centres, they are also under strong urban pressure: air quality, noise, coexistence with local residents. The guidelines provide a shared method to address these challenges. They enable each port to structure its approach on a basis recognised at European level and to commit to environmental certification.
The CWA: a collective effort
The publication of the CWA is the result of several collective meetings held under the auspices of AFNOR Normalisation and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). These working groups brought together French, Italian and Greek ports, among others, as well as institutional and scientific partners.
